A distinct section of EGP, separate from the EGP Research Center. Here stone and gem materials are considered as artistic and cultural objects. The structure is established first; entries are added only from documented material.
Separate from the Research Center
The EGP Research Center holds gemological field documentation and research records. This library holds artistic, cultural and heritage material. The two are kept apart so that artistic reading is never mistaken for gemological evidence.

Art in Stone
Artistic expression realised in stone and gem materials: carving, lapidary work, engraving and ornamental composition, recorded as art rather than as gemmological identification.

Stone Objects & Artifacts
Objects worked from stone — ornaments, tools, vessels, mounted pieces — described by form, workmanship and condition. Attribution and dating are recorded only where documentation supports them.

Historical Materials
Stone and gem materials considered in their historical and cultural context: use, trade, terminology and written record. Historical statements require a cited source.

Visual Interpretation
Reading of pattern, colour distribution, texture and internal imagery as visual and aesthetic experience. Interpretation here is explicitly artistic and is never presented as gemmological evidence.

Conservation & Material Observations
Observations bearing on stability and care: surface condition, fractures, wear, mounting and handling notes. Observational only — not a conservation treatment plan and not a condition certificate.

How every entry is structured
Observation, interpretation and verification are never merged.

Direct Observation
What is actually seen in the object or image: form, surface, colour distribution, texture, visible features and measurable dimensions where recorded. Stated without conclusion.

Artistic Interpretation
Aesthetic and cultural reading of the observed material. Interpretation is labelled as such and carries no diagnostic weight for identity, origin, treatment or age.
- 03
Scientific / Historical Verification
Only statements supported by instrumental analysis, an independent qualified laboratory, or a cited historical source appear at this level. Where such support is absent, the entry states that verification is required.
